Angaga Experiment.Reloaded | day 7

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Thanks to all of our readers who crossed their fingers for us! It happened again … we met 4 (yes! FOUR!) wale-sharks today. The first three haven’t been near enough to get a good picture, but the last one was moving at 5 meters so I could snap this picture.

It’s an unbelievable experience to meet this gentle giants … ineffable … you’ve to see this by yourself! I hope the snorkeler in the background gives you a feeling for the physical relation … the whale-shark was about 14 meters long ….

Not more to say today …

Todays cover-picture shows the boat which gets us to the dive-spots. It looks a little bit rustic but the boat is very handy! In the middle of the boat the tanks are stored, to the left and right side people can sit. The roof protects against sun and can be used for sunbathing if you climb up the stairs on top of it. In the front of the boat divers use the platform to jump into the water and at the sides they move down a lather to get up on the boat again after the dive. There is a toilet under deck and a shower with freshwater at the front side. You see – everything needed for a good dive is in place ;)

Today we had just one dive in the morning at ‘Endiri Tila’, about 50 mins by boat from Angaga island. This was the best dive we had so far. The reef is so beautiful – it’s unbelievable! Tons of glas-fish, a moray in every second hole, hunting tunas and bluefin-mackereles, lionfishs, anemones of fancy colors with clown-fish inside and best of all – no current. Today the water was crystal-clear at about 30°C. A perfect dive!

In the afternoon we took a break – just some snorkeling at the house-reef and relaxing. Because tomorrow we need power and also some luck at sharkewale-watching. Don’t forget to cross your fingers!

And here some eye-candy for you:

For the curious reader … the last picture is ‘Dori fish soup’ (powder blue tang). Have you ever seen such a big swarm? No? Me also not! Unbelievable …

Angaga Experiment.Reloaded | day 5

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Today just some impressions from Angaga island. The colors you see on this shot are original – no Photoshop – I swear ;) This is what we see if we take 10 steps out of our apartment and turn right.

According diving … in the morning we went by boat to ‘Madivaru Manta Point’ which took us about 50 minutes. Maximum dive-depth was 16m with medium well sight of about 10m. Dive-time was 55 minutes with a water-temperature of about 29°C.

We meet two Mantas but they came not near enough to take a good picture with my 8mm fish-eye :( But we’ll be back again by the next 8 days, so let’s see if we can snap a great picture of this cool animals.

At the afternoon we had one dive at Angagas house-reef with some good foto-opportunities. The most interesting one is the following picture of ‘something’ which moved like a snail but had amazing dimensions of about 30cm x 20cm. I’ve never seen something like that before … but maybe one of our readers can give us a hint?

Cu tomorrow!

Todays title-shot shows my brave wife at about 20 meters under water. She became a really good scuba-diver since last year and gave me a helpful lending hand today at the second stress-full dive. A little bit to strong current for my taste, to less air and too much buoyancy, caused by missing weight, made the safetystop at the end of the dive a rather stress-full issue :(  But she got me down at 5 meters for 3 minutes .. my hero! :)

By the way, todays pictures are taken with a snapshot camera boxed in a cheap underwater-case – the Canon Powershot S100 – for the more curious reader. the quality is far from my Olympus-rig, but you can get usable pictures with this little cam also as you can see here:

All pictures have been taken at the two dive-spots ‘Mirihi Tila’ and ‘Shameem Tila’ we visited today by boat. Both dives took about 1 hour with a maximum dive depth of about 20 meters. Water temperature was about 28°C and good sight of about 15 to 25 meters. We meet two ‘Whitetip reef sharks‘, a big ‘Eagle Ray‘, a lot of smaller fish and at the way home to Angaga island some dolphins showed up near the boat!

What can I say … a rather cool day also if I had some trouble at my second dive ;)

So enough for today … hope you enjoyed the show … see you again tomorrow!

Angaga Experiment.Reloaded | day 3

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We had our check-dive in the morning and a second dive on Angaga’s house-reef in the afternoon.

We got four ‘whitetip reef sharks’ today. Sorry for the picture quality but this little devils are so fast … really hard to catch! This one was the most curious one and came closer … about 2 meters from the camera. And also if this shark is just one and a half meter in size it looks much bigger from near distance ;)

Anyways – ‘shark is shark’ ! :)

Sleep well and join us tomorrow,
Yours Andrews >:o)

Angaga Experiment.Reloaded | day 2

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Today we met our first sea-turtle. It’s amazing how ‘cool’ this little fellows keep in contact with snorkelers and divers. Most of the time you’re more or less ignored :)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And the second shot is just one more impression of Angagas house reef with really nice stone corals and crystal clear water.

This is it for today … see you soon,

Angaga Experiment.Reloaded | day 1

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Looks a little bit cheesy but I couldn’t stand to snap this picture. The only one of that kind for the next to weeks, I promise!

What happened today … hm .. not much. We checked in at the local dive-base, did some snorkeling and relaxing. The most impressive news for today is the rain-shower we had in the evening for an hour. Yes … it is raining in paradise also ;)

Last one impression of Angaga underwater using my new 8mm fisheye. Really crazy glas, a lot of distortion … but perfect view for big fish like Mantas and Walesharks. Cross your fingers and let’s hope that we meet one of this impressive giants by the next days!

So .. I’ll get a cocktail now .. cu and sleep well,

Angaga Experiment.Reloaded | day zero

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We had so much fun @ Angaga last year so we decided to give this beautiful island a second try. And we’re happy to offer all our estimated readers of lensblues.com the opportunity to get some closer looks at this magic place with us. Be prepared to get daily impressions of Angaga over and under water for the next 14 days!

Every adventure  at Maldives starts at Male. From there you’ve to go by speed-boat or a seaplane to your target resort. In our case we went by plane straight to Angaga which took about 35 minutes.

On the way we passed a lot of small islands and atolls, some occupied others just big enough host some vegetation.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And finally we arrived at our spot – tired but happy :)

CU again tomorrow,
Yours Andrew >:o)
